" Application (Ratings Tool) "

Task/Challenge

The technologies at S&P were creating huge hurdles for the rating analyst in completing the daily tasks after the new requirements for more transparency from the SEC and investors. The decision by the stakeholders was to create a web base tool that would allow the rating analysts to complete the basic requirements of their daily tasks more efficiently.

This quick fix was considered a temporary solution to a long-term initiative of upgrading the technologies, system tools, and overall structure of Standard and Poor’s

Idea

To fully comprehend the assignment, it was necessary to attend daily visionary workshop sessions used for gathering SME requirements, and discussing business and technical issues. The feedback from these sessions would be documented and shared with the IO team to help us make the best decisions for the tool.

My recommendation was to use as many UX research techniques within scope and budget to communicate covert hurdles. With the many side projects running in tandem at S&P and the development of a new style guide to be use across all new application, it was extremely important that the tool be designed for scalability, and integrate seamlessly.

Solution

The project was postponed, and resources discharged as there was a need for the stakeholders to rethink the business road-map.
